Will Smith to star in "Resistor" sci-fi thriller

Deadline's justin kroll reports that will smith has signed on to star in sony pictures' "Resistor" film based on daniel suarez's 2014 novel "Influx". while the plot of the film may differ from the the book's, it follows a physicist who gets imprisoned after discovering a device that could change physics, gravity and the future. the script was written by bullet train's zak olkewicz and top gun maverick's eric singer. there's no director attached or release date yet.
